Magazine CollageArt Production Experience Reflection
I can document and reflect upon the mini-lessons and art production experiences I completed this semester in ITE 326, Visual Arts, Elementary. I can create a title for this art experience: I believe . . . I can describe the instructional strategies used as a motivation for creating my own work of art: Students are able to create a collage out of materials of their choice, or ones that the instructor provides, to create a piece that showcases things that they believe in. I can cite a HCPS III in the Visual Arts and the Benchmark I feel this lesson meets: Benchmark FA.DP.1.3Demonstrate proper care and conservation of tools, materials, and equipment used in drawing and painting Benchmark FA.DP.1.2Demonstrate an understanding of wet media such as ink, watercolor, tempera, acrylics, and mixed media Benchmark FA.DP.2.1Demonstrate understanding of the elements of art and principles of design when creating original works of art I can list the materials I used: •mod podge •brush (different sizes, to spread mod podge) •construction paper •magazines, newspapers & old books (to cut up) •scissors •misc items at home that students would like -feathers, beads, netting, confetti, flowers, etc. I can reflect on my personal involvement in the creative process during this art experience, and how I would inspire my students to feel positive about this experience: While doing this project, students would be able to use the available resources around them to create their collage. They are not bounded to any specific theme, except to create something that they believe in. It’s a very broad subject, and many students may have the same belief about a topic, but the way that students communicate and display it through their collage should all be unique to their own personality. I can modify this experience to provide art instruction for different grade levels. List 2-3 ways: • For younger students, you could provide a theme, or use a unit study to create a collage. For example, you could have students create a collage of “healthy foods” vs “unhealthy foods” after doing a dental hygiene unit. • For older students, you could create this collage to have them display their thoughts upon a controversial subject, and students would have to pick a side to show that they support or oppose the topic. I can list 2-3 different ways to integrate other subject matter into this lesson: • This could be integrated into a language art’s lesson, and students can elaborate on their ideas of what the meaning behind their collage is. • This lesson could also be integrated with social studies, and students could create a collage based upon a specific time period. Or students could create collages displaying what their interpretations of what the amendments are in the constitution. I can list 2-3 teaching skills that I can use as a teacher from this lesson. • Able to have resources available for student to use • Time management |
