Art Talk Refelction1. What went well in this lesson? Why?
The students really enjoyed the power point, because I think to them it was like watching a show on the television. They were super attentive and almost glued to the screen, but everyone participated and seemed to enjoy the “lecture” part. 2. What problems did I experience? Why? I gave unclear directions, so I got many different “pictures.” Not everyone wrote a sentence and I didn’t really have too much of a “sponge” activity. Some people drew more than one thing with different colors, so I think it might’ve been a little too “simple” for some of the students. I think when I looked backed, I think my directions were unclear because I assumed that they knew what to do. 3. Was it “student centered”? Should it have been? It was semi student centered because I gave them a choice of what colored they wanted to focus on, and labeled it as choosing their “favorite” color. Then they also had a choice of what object they wanted to draw as well, just as long as it was pertaining to the color. 4. What could I have done differently? I think that I should’ve worded my directions differently and have them stick to one page per color instead of having them do more than one color/sentence on one page 5. What did I learn from this experience that will help me in the future? I think that using multi media, or mixing up the media in the classroom would be good exposure to the students, and since it was something new, they were really excited and attentive to the lesson itself. 6. Preparation and research - Was I well prepared? - What could I have done differently? I was a little unprepared, because the original worksheets that I wanted the students to do their work on was forgotten at home, so I improvised and used blank paper. Although that did come to be a problem when the students had to write their sentences. 7. Written plan – Was I organized? Did the written format work? Is there a better form? The power point was organized and I had tested it out to see that it would be viewed easily from the television before hand. All went well with the viewing of the power point 8. Presentation – Were the students involved? Was I clear in my presentation? How was the pacing? All students were involved doing their own work, but I was not clear during the directions part. I feel that I paced pretty well, but I should’ve prepared for a better sponge activity. 9. Assessment – Does my method of assessment measure what I want? How did the class do? What should I change for next time? The class did well. I feel that maybe this lesson wasn't challenging enough for my students, so I tried to mix it up with having them go into primary and secondary colors and see if they knew what primary colors mixed together to make a secondary color. |
